    Abstract:

Atherosclerosis is the main pathological basis of cardiovascular disease, which is a serious threat to human health all over the world. Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory process of vascular wall caused by lipid metabolism disorder. As a member of the lectin family, the asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 is involved in endocytosis and degradation of serum glycoproteins, and plays an important role in various physiological processes. Studies have shown that the asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 mutations are associated with cardiovascular disease risk such as low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, suggesting that asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 may be closely associated with the development and progression of atherosclerosis. This article reviews the role of the asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 in atherosclerosis and its possible mechanisms.
