The relationship between carotid artery atherosclerosis and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are so close, some parameters which represent carotid artery atherosclerosis including carotid artery intima-media thickness, carotid artery plaque and carotid artery adventitia have positive correlation with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and predict cardiovascular events and cerebrovascular events.
