    Abstract:

Lipid disorder and inflammation play important roles in the development of atherosclerosis.Reverse cholesterol transport is a key event in lipid metabolism.Evidence from our research results and literatures indicate that caveolae and caveolin-1 not only play a key role in cholesterol transportation, but also mediate anti- inflammation during the inflammation response. Therefore, caveolae and caveolin-1 may be the basic molecular platform for the interaction between reverse cholesterol transport and inflammation in atherosclerosis.
