Clearance of apoptotic cells that have significant impacts on the composition,progression and stability of atherosclerotic is an important physiologic function of macrophage.This review will address the molecular and cellular mechanisms that are thought to govern macrophage recognizing,ingesting and swallowing apoptotic cells as well as the role of improving the stability of atherosclerosis.
